By using Plater, you can dictate how you see your debuffs above an enemy's nameplate, such as their shape and size, or the direction the icons will grow. What exactly does this mean? Well, let's assume you play a class that applies some form of a debuff, whether that be a DoT or something else entirely. Plater is a nameplate addon that happens to be making some big waves in the World of Warcraft community. The default Blizzard nameplates serve their purpose well enough, but for years people have been clamoring for more power.

A nameplate's function is to visibly display the health, mana, status effects, and various other pieces of information outside of the target window. If you're missing nameplates for some inexplicable reason, try pressing your "V" key to see if they turn on. See that health bar above its head? That's a nameplate.
